Baking soda

Baking soda does far more than remove odors from a refrigerator. Sprinkle it over upholstered furniture or carpeting to remove stale smells such as smoke and pet odors, then vacuum it away after an hour or more. Pour baking soda down a slow drain, followed by vinegar, to loosen items causing a clog in the pipe. Do not plunge or use chemical cleaners with this homemade drain cleaner. A little baking soda mixed into water serves as a general surface cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms, cleaning and removing odors at the same time. For difficult stains or caked-on substances, make a paste of baking soda and a little water; apply it over the problem area, then buff with a soft cloth.  Remember baking soda is also anti bacterial.
