The price of your essential oil is directly related to the amount of plant material it takes to produce it. This varies from plant to plant and even amongst plants, this is due to yield, growing practices, and distillation quality.
The oils that are most expensive will use more plant material to produce a small amount of oil, rose, and jasmine for example.
Similar to wine essential oils when distilled in small quantities, will demand a higher price, which is worth the cost because of its complex structure.
Paying a higher cost for oils will be worth it as you will get what you pay for. You can substitute less expensive oils for more expensive ones such as choosing geranium instead of rose.
